Beams and Floors

Production

Wooden Beams Southern Beech Flooring Wood Planks Northern IrelandAt Baronscourt 703 hectares are under full forest cover and managed in a sustainable, environmentally friendly way. This enables the Estate to be FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified and all harvesting operations are carried out with the environment in mind. All of the beams and flooring planks are milled on site using a local mobile sawmilling contractor causing the least disturbance to the forest as no heavy timber lorries are involved. Every stage of the timber conversion, from felling to final end product, is carried out locally.

The Estate specialises in producing southern beech flooring planks that are milled to a thickness of 29mm (1 1/8 in.) The timber is similar to a common beech in quality and grain and has a pinkish golden colour that gives off tremendous warmth when laid and finished. After milling, the planks are properly stacked and allowed to air dry ready for kilning and processing into flooring.

Stock

In addition to the southern beech flooring the Estate carries a stock of hardwood and softwood beams and mantle piece sections that are milled into a variety of sizes, allowing the customer to choose a section most suitable to their needs.
